Summer Food Drive extended until August 4th, 2014

Your response has been amazing! So far you have donated  over 6000 pounds of food and  $4120.00 towards our Food Bank and Meal Program. Our Food Drive runs until August 4 th and we thank you for your  ongoing support.

Here is how you can help: Until August 4th donation bins will be available at different locations in our area and we are also issuing a challenge to local businesses and community groups to “donate their weight” in food.

How it works: Put together a team of participants and tell us your combined weight and when we receive your group’s food donation we will weigh the donation and see how close your group gets in matching your donation weight to your group weight.  All groups who participate will receive a certificate of support, heartfelt appreciation and unlimited bragging rights. To find our more, call Amanda at 905-835-1914 ext. 23.

ROC the Notte Event for Port Cares August 14th, 2014

large colleseumEnjoy music, great food,door prizes and wonderful company on Thursday August 14th at the Guild Hall in down town Port Colborne. This is the 2nd year local business owner Cathy Boggio and friends will host this event in aid of the children and youth in our community.This Italian themed evening features mouthwatering food from  Chef Claudia Spiteri , owner of Eataly Foods, Cafe & Deli  on Clarence Street. Wine and beer will also be available. Dance the night away to Italian music  by the Polka Dots and enjoy the evening’s festivities.

Summer Reach Out Food Drive July 2014

The Port Cares Reach Out Food Centre needs your help this summer to help feed those in need in our community. So far in 2014 our food bank has received and distributed nearly 25 % more food compared to the first 6 months of 2013 and we are also seeing a progressive increase in the number of clients who come to the Meal Program at the Reach Out Food Centre. Families with kids who would normally also be participating in school lunch programs are now struggling to fill the gap. If you can help us… here is how. Summer REACH OUT 2014 Port Cares Food Drive July 14 to July 31

Boggio Family of Pharmacies donates $3030.30 to Port Cares

home-Banner-5On Friday, June 27th Port Cares neighbour and business leader The Boggio Family of Pharmacies presented Port Cares with a gift of $3,030.30 in celebration of Boggio Pharmacies 30th anniversary in business.
This amazing gift is for the Port Cares Reach Out Food Centre (ROFC) and to make the most of it we will use the monies to cover immediate as well as long term needs.

  • A  third of  the $3,030.30  will be provided to the food bank to support emergency food purchases when food and supplies on our shelves are low
  • The next third will be allocated to Children’s programming at ROFC
  • The remaining funds will be allocated for equipment, building investment or repairs as needed at the ROFC
