Ontario Early Years – Port Colborne- Wainfleet Literacy event a hit!

Our Port Cares Ontario Early Years Centre held the The Port Colborne and Wainfleet Family Literacy Event Day “Building with our Future Words” on February 6th, 2016. Over 64 families including 118 children attended the event at the Vale Centre.

Everyone had a wonderful time playing and enjoying the many activities including face-painting, arts and crafts  and of course free books provided by Port Cares. Entertainer Dez Sargeant captivated the children with her  story telling and Therapy Tails Ontario enthralled the kids with their therapy dogs. Thank you to all of the sponsors and volunteers for making this event possible.

For more information on the Ontario Early Years Centre here at Port Cares, contact Christina McNicoll, Manager of the Port Colborne/Wainfleet, Fort Erie, West Lincoln and Lincoln sites. Pancake Brunch to raise funds and awareness on the plight of Homelessness a success.

The Port Cares Annual Pancake Brunch on February 2.2016 was a success  with celebrity servers such as Mayor John Maloney, Mayor April Jeffs, M.P.P. Cindy Forster, Bryan Ingram representing M.P. Vance Badawey and Brian Salmon and Chuck Lafleur from Giant FM & Country 89. Board members Cathy Boggio and Melanie Cherevaty also joined Executive Director Christine Clark Lafleur in dishing out the pancakes and yummy sausages donated by Tendercuts.

Many thanks also to all of the Port Cares staff members who helped make this event happen and to the over 130 guests who attended this year’s event. Proceeds from the meal will support vital programming at Port Cares and a portion of the toque sales will go to the “Raising the Roof “National campaign to raise awareness and to fight homelessness.

We thank you for your support.
