We are proud to announce that we have been supporting Community members with access to free services to enhance and improve their lives for over 30 years.
In celebration we will be featuring a different service available at Port Cares on a regular basis so you can learn more about our programs and services and see if we can be of assistance to you or someone you know. It is also a great way for us to look back at how far we have journeyed as a community agency and thank everyone who has been involved with Port Cares for their outstanding dedication and contributions.
April 10-16 is National Volunteer Week. Volunteers are the roots of strong communities. Just like roots are essential for trees to bloom, volunteers are essential for communities to boom. At Port Cares, we are very fortunate to have several dedicated, wonderful and caring volunteers. Please join us in celebrating these amazing individuals! If you are interested in Volunteering please contact Shelby Hemingway at email@example.com
Thank you to everyone for the fantastic response to SoupFest 2016. We had close to 300 guests and students in attendance and the soups were simply fantastic. We have already raised over $5300.00 from this event (plus close to $5000 in in-kind donations) and we could not have done it without the support of our generous donors and volunteers.
We would especially like to thank:
The teams from Port Colborne High School; Lakeshore Catholic High School; Niagara College; and the Port Cares Reach Out Centre. The people’s choice award went to both the Lakeshore Catholic Team for their Potato Bacon Cream Soup AND the Port Cares Team for their Mulligatawny Soup. Pictures courtesy of Shelby Riddell.
The bands from Port Colborne High School and Lakeshore Catholic High School.
Thank you also goes out to all of our generous Sponsors and Event Partners for their amazing support. We could not have done it without you.
Did you know that on average we see 200 kids under the age of 18 at our food bank each month? Or that we provide close to 1000 meals every month to those in need in our community? Want to help out?
You can help us by coming out to SoupFest on April 7th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Italian Hall at 223 Bell Street in Port Colborne.
Students from the Culinary Programs at Port Colborne High School, Lakeshore Catholic High School, Niagara College and a volunteer team from our own Soup Kitchen at the Reach Out Centre will be cooking up delicious soups for you to enjoy!
Both High School bands will also be performing and there will be lots of food, door prizes celebrity guests and a 50/50 draw for your entertainment. All for the price of a$15.00 ticket.
So don’t bring lunch that day and come on out and support their efforts instead, as they are all working hard to help us raise funds to help the most vulnerable members in our community. Thank you for your support!
