Why do we do SoupFest? Read how your donations helped this family.

Every year the community comes together and shares a meal at SoupFest in April to raise funds for our Reach Out Food Centre and Food Bank. Here is why we do it and how you have helped a family in need.

Success Story:

“I am a disabled single father with 2 school age children living in rural f Wainfleet with transportation issues, fixed household income and limited resources. It is an ongoing struggle to afford to cover expenses and meet the needs of my 8 year old son and 9 year old daughter. School lunches come at a great cost but thankfully because the Port Cares Reach Out Centre offers me regular access to the food bank, lunch program for my kids and community meals my family does not have to go with our meeting their basic needs. Through the Trusteeship program I am receiving help managing my fiances and covering my bases so that I have some piece of mind knowing that I do not have to go it alone; it is like a safety net, I know that some one else is looking out for me that way.”

” I would not want to imagine how difficult life would be without the Reach Out Centre and the wonderful helpful people who go out of their way to help me and my family. I know that when I don’t know where to start with something that comes up ,I can go there and get help. “
