Port Cares salutes the hundreds of supporters of the 2014 Summer Reach Out Centre Food drive. The total weight of food donations was 4.7 tonnes (10,433.6 pounds). We received $2252.00 in donations from local organizations and community members. ADM Milling donated $1,867.00 in cash in addition to $350.00 in grocery cards.
“Port Cares is deeply grateful to have such amazing community support. Food banks and meal services across the province are doing everything possible to contend with increasing client numbers and needs experienced this summer. Our community’s response over the summer has been vital to our ability to assist those in need,” explains Christine Clark Lafleur, Executive Director, Port Cares. “Our clients and our team sincerely thank everyone who helped support our first summer drive.”
