On February 7th ,2014 teams from all over the Niagara Region gathered to play ball hockey in St. Catharines for Raising the Roof to promote awareness on the plight of the many individuals facing homelessness in our communities. Although they did not win any of their games, the team representing Port Cares had a great time. Funds raised by the Region during this event will be distributed to Port Cares, Community Care, The Hope Centre, Project Share and Grimsby Affordable Housing Partnership.
Our Port Cares Ontario Early Years Centre held the The Port Colborne and Wainfleet Family Literacy Day “Bringing Books to Life” on February 8th, 2014. Over 71 families including 116 children attended the event this year featuring Juno-award winner, Music With Brian and Friends. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing and enjoying the many activities including face-painting, arts and crafts, story telling and of course books! Therapy Tails Ontario also enthralled the kids with their therapy dogs.
